What this site records about a visit,
and what it does not
This site sets no cookies, has no accounts, runs no analytics and loads nothing from any other site. It keeps one item in your browser, and only after you press the button that pauses the background motion. Its server writes one standard log line for each request and counts page views by kind of page only. Every request passes through Cloudflare's network, and what Cloudflare records is outside this site's view.
One item in your browser's storage
The button at the foot of most pages pauses the faint moving points behind them. Pressing it stores one item in your browser for this site, the key hypnos-motion with the value paused or enabled, so that the choice holds on your next visit; nothing is stored before you press it. Pressing it again changes the value without removing the item; clearing this site's data in your browser removes it. Nothing else on the site writes to your browser's storage.
What your browser loads
Your browser loads the page, one stylesheet, an icon and the site's own scripts, all from hypnosmath.org; no font is loaded, and the pages use your computer's own. Every page tells your browser to take scripts, styles, images and fonts from this site only, and to let scripts connect to this site only.
What the server writes down
The server writes one line for each request, in its software's standard form: the network address the connection came from, the time, the page requested, the status, the size of the answer, the referring page if your browser sent one, and your browser's name string. Because requests arrive through Cloudflare's network, that address belongs to the machine that handed the request on, not to you; your own address arrives in a request header that the line does not record. These pages ask browsers to send no referring page, so that field is empty as you move around the site.
The site's code sets no period for keeping these lines. The server writes them to its output, and where they go from there, and for how long, is settled outside that code, so no period is given here.
The site also counts page views by kind of page only (all paper and report pages share one count), with no address, browser name or identifier attached. The site's database holds nothing about visitors either: only the live figures it has received and the list of what it publishes.
On a page that shows live figures, the site's script fetches the page again every two minutes while the tab is visible and swaps in the figures that changed. Each fetch is an ordinary request, so a tab left open on such a page writes a log line and adds a page view about every two minutes. A hidden tab fetches nothing, and a page without live figures, this one included, never fetches itself.
The headers on every answer also tell your browser never to show the pages inside a frame, to refuse them the camera, the microphone, your location and payments, and to reach this site only over encrypted connections for a year after each visit.
Cloudflare, between your browser and the server
Every request reaches the site through Cloudflare's network, which passes it to the site's server and returns the answer; the server header of each answer names Cloudflare. Two more headers ask your browser to report requests that fail to get through (network errors, never successful page views) to Cloudflare, and to keep that instruction for seven days. Cloudflare can also disguise a mail address on a page, adding a small script, served from this site's address, that restores it (with scripts off, a placeholder shows instead); the addresses at the foot of every page and on this page are marked for Cloudflare to leave as written.
What Cloudflare records about the requests it passes on, and for how long, is Cloudflare's own and cannot be seen from the site. This page covers what the site itself records.
Where the live figures come from
Hypnos is a research harness for mathematics, in two parts. In a loop that has run since August 11, 2026, with pauses between runs, three small open AI models read a growing notebook of mathematics and write one-line candidate ideas, and Claude Opus 5, a frontier model made by Anthropic, reads samples of them and writes the few worth a closer look into the notebook as entries; the small models run on graphics cards at the home of the owner, the person who runs Hypnos. In sessions the owner starts by hand, Claude Fable 5.1 (Anthropic) and GPT-6 Astra (OpenAI) work from that notebook, deriving results and checking them. How Hypnos works explains the rest.
Normally every ten minutes, the machines that run the loop send the site a small document of counts, states, and the titles and summaries of recently kept entries, and the live pages show the newest. The site holds no key to those machines and never connects to them: the figures flow one way, and nothing in them is about a visitor. The report on how the live figures reach this site has the engineering.
Where to write
For a security problem with the site, or a question about this page, write to security@hypnosmath.org. Cloudflare forwards mail sent to the site's addresses to the owner's own mailbox; he reads it himself, and nothing you write is given to any AI model without your permission. No encryption key is published, so a message arrives as ordinary email.
